Sam Harrelson is the founder of StudiesLab and strong advocate of self-directed learning for pre-teens, teenagers and young adults. He has worked with age groups ranging from 8 to 20 on preparation for life long learning. Sam is primarily located in beautiful Asheville, NC.

Sam has previously taught middle school at Carolina Day School in Asheville, NC, Spartanburg Day School and Hammond School, both in South Carolina. He has also taught at Newberry High School and the University of South Carolina as well as serving as an Adjunct Professor at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC. Sam has taught classes on American History, Literature, Dante, Hebrew Bible, Algebra and Geometry, iOS app development, robotics and programming essentials.

He attended Mullins High School, Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC, Yale University, University of South Carolina as well as completing a three year appointment with AmeriCorps.

Sam’s personal interests include high energy physics and quantum mechanics, ancient religions, Roman Syria, archaeology and 19th century American literature and histories.

Now 33, Sam finds his spark for life and passion in learning, sharing and helping others to realize their own inner potential for continuous self-directed lifelong learning.
